One of the most commonly performed tooth extraction procedures is wisdom teeth removal. These third molars tend to grow in when an individual is in his or her late teens. Some adults well into their twenties, however, have experienced late development of wisdom teeth. There are several reasons we may recommend wisdom teeth extractions
in our office near Woodstock.
- One or more wisdom teeth are impacted, meaning they cannot erupt from the gums.
- There is no space in the mouth for these additional teeth.
- Wisdom teeth may develop extensive damage due to cavities.
For teens and adults alike, the prospect of undergoing wisdom teeth extractions can be daunting. At Thirty-two Dental, our experienced team puts patient comfort first. We want you to experience no discomfort, and no stress. Not only do we offer gentle, expedient care and local anesthetic to block pain receptors, we also offer nitrous oxide to reduce feelings of anxiety or fear.
Nitrous oxide for sedation dentistry
Patients should not enter their dentist's office feeling fearful. The extraction of several teeth is a procedure that may cause these feelings to occur. Dr. Vo and Dr. Breckley are experienced dentists who believe in the highest standard of care. To significantly reduce, or completely wipe out, feelings of anxiousness, we may incorporate nitrous oxide sedation into the extraction visit.
Nitrous oxide has been used in medical and dental treatments for over a century. The sedative is breathed in through a nasal cannula or small nasal mask as a mixture of oxygen and nitrous. It is safe and effective for patients of various ages due to its unique characteristics and temporary nature. Upon administration, nitrous oxide will act quickly, reducing stress within moments and allowing the patient to receive dental care in total relaxation.
The delivery of nitrous oxide during dental treatment does not place a patient into a deep sleep. The overall strength can be adjusted from throughout a procedure. What is nice about nitrous oxide for most dental procedures and patients is that it is just as quick to leave the system, as it is to take effect. Within a few minutes after the nitrous mask is removed, patients are alert and able to resume all of their normal activities without lingering sedative effects.
At Thirty-two Dental, tooth extractions of any kind are not cause for stress. Contact our office to schedule your visit with us.
