Teeth Extraction

Teeth Extractions - Bone Grafting - Wisdom Teeth Extractions

Teeth Extractions - Bone Grafting - Wisdom Teeth Extractions at 32 Dental Practice, Kennesaw, GA A tooth may be extracted for many reasons, including severe decay, trauma, periodontal disease, or poor positioning in the mouth. Tooth extraction is used after all other treatment options have been exhausted in order to save and recover the tooth.

At 32 Dental, we do everything from a simple tooth extraction to wisdom teeth extraction, and follow up with restorative or cosmetic dentistry procedures when necessary. In fact, one of the benefits of going to 32 Dental for your tooth extraction is that we can install dental implants during the same visit when necessary. But if you're not ready for a dental implant right away, we also offer bone grafting in order to prepare your tooth for the possibility of installing dental implants at a future time when you're ready.

During a tooth extraction, we will offer in-office sedation with local anesthetic, as well as nitrous gas in order to relax the patient and give them comfort. Typically during an extraction, the tooth is removed, the socket in the gums is cleaned out and disinfected, abscesses or other issues are addressed, and then the pocket is protected with a bone graft if the patient decides not to have dental implants put in during the same visit. This ensures that the bone level is ready for an implant when the patient is ready, and can help preserve the bone and keep the patient from experiencing bone loss that may make future dental work more difficult to complete. In fact, after you have a tooth pulled, you lose approximately 25-40% of your bone around that area within the first six months.

After your tooth extraction, we will call you within 24 hours to follow up and check your comfort level and healing. It is essential to form a blood clot during the first 24 hours following an extraction, so we are able to connect with our patients and ensure that this is happening so that we can aid the patient in the healing process.

Aftercare: Forming a blood clot during the first 24 hours following an extraction is necessary to reduce pain and speed healing. One hour of tight pressure is needed to form the blood clot. To aid healing you should:
  • Bite on a gauze pad for 40-60 minutes to stop oozing. Repeat with clean gauze after one hour
  • Don't spit, suck on candy or suck through a straw
  • Don't rinse your mouth, brush or floss next to the socket for 24 hours
  • Don't smoke or use tobacco for at least 72 hours
  • Don't sneeze or cough; keep sinus or allergy medication on hand if necessary
  • Don't drink hot, carbonated, or alcoholic drinks. Avoid spicy foods
  • Take pain medication before the anesthetic has worn off. Hold an ice bag over the area for twenty minutes and then remove it for twenty minutes
  • Repeat as necessary. Drink lots of fluids, and eat soft foods on the opposite side of your mouth
After the first 24 hour, you may begin to eat normally. Gently brush and floss around the area for the first week following your procedure, and take any prescribed antibiotics for the indicated period, even if all soreness and signs of infection are gone. Apply moist heat and rinse with warm salt water three times a day to reduce swelling. Contact the office if you have any concerns.

This place is the best! The staff is so friendly and helpful and Dr Vo is very skilled, attentive, and compassionate. My son had his wisdom teeth extracted recently and Dr Vo took great care of him. She really went the extra mile to make sure that he had a positive experience. I highly recommend this practice.

I've been seeing Dr. Breckley and Dr. Vo since they opened this practice, and I'm still a huge fan. I recently had some dental work done with them (like this morning). I've never doubted the doctors' abilities, and this experience was no exception. They are experts and are very good at their craft. I want to also mention the support staff, especially the women on the front desk. They are thorough, helpful, and so very nice. I've never experienced the follow-up and follow through at another practice as I have with them at 32 Dental. I always know what my bill will be. There are never any surprises, and that is so comforting in this day of American healthcare. :) I'll continue to refer my friends to them and patron their practice based on my experiences with them! Thanks!

Wow." I would definitely recommend this practice to anyone who wants both kids and adults to be taken care of at the same location!
