Root Canal Procedure for Infected Tooth Nerve Kennesaw
At 32 Dental Practice preventive and proactive dentistry remains at the core of everything we do, and as such, you may never need a root canal. However, sometimes, damage or infection to your tooth is unavoidable. Dental trauma can happen. Certain medical conditions may threaten the integrity of your tooth. When life throws curveballs at your dental health, know that Dr. Sean Breckley offers root canal therapy for patients in Kennesaw, Georgia, to save their natural tooth from dying!

Why do I need a root canal? What are the symptoms?

There are several reasons why you may need a root canal. If you have a large cavity that has eaten your tooth all the way to the nerve, you need a root canal to save you from pain. Plus, if your root nerve is damaged from physical trauma or sinus infection, you need root canal treatment to salvage your tooth.

It’s time to book an appointment with Dr. Breckley to evaluate whether you need a root canal if you are experiencing the symptoms described below:

  • Tender or swollen gums
  • A tooth that pains when touched
  • Damaged or decayed tooth
  • Sensitive tooth, especially to hot and cold foods
  • Throbbing tooth pain
Over the years, root canals have always been associated with pain and discomfort. However, as you will see, modern dentistry has made it possible to have pain-free root canal treatment.

Step by step root canal procedure

The root canal treatment is an outpatient treatment that needs between 30 minutes and one hour for simple cases. However, severe cases may demand over 90 minutes and more than one appointment for a successful treatment.

Generally, here is what to expect from a typical root canal treatment:

  • X-rays: During the consultation, we take dental x-rays to determine the extent of damage to the tooth and whether the tooth-supporting bone is intact.
  • Anesthesia: If Dr. Breckley recommends a root canal, we numb your mouth to reduce any discomfort.
  • Removal of decayed material: Using special tools, the dentist makes a small opening on the top of the tooth to access your tooth internals. Then, we removed the infected pulp and any other debris from the canals. Next, we thoroughly clean the tooth to remove any bacteria.
  • Filling: Once Dr. Breckley ensures your tooth is spotlessly clean, we use a rubber-like material (gutta-percha) to seal your tooth to prevent future infections. Then, we use a temporal filling to cover your tooth until your crown is ready.
  • Crown installation: Since the integrity of your treated tooth is compromised, we install a crown to improve its resilience and appearance.

I've been seeing Dr. Breckley and Dr. Vo since they opened this practice, and I'm still a huge fan. I recently had some dental work done with them (like this morning). I've never doubted the doctors' abilities, and this experience was no exception. They are experts and are very good at their craft. I want to also mention the support staff, especially the women on the front desk. They are thorough, helpful, and so very nice. I've never experienced the follow-up and follow through at another practice as I have with them at 32 Dental. I always know what my bill will be. There are never any surprises, and that is so comforting in this day of American healthcare. :) I'll continue to refer my friends to them and patron their practice based on my experiences with them! Thanks!

Wow." I would definitely recommend this practice to anyone who wants both kids and adults to be taken care of at the same location!
